Rocky Bowl 2016-2017 site coming soon ...

Never fear Rocky Bowlers, the Rocky Bowl will continue on this year.  Never mind 2 of the commissioner's being distracted with visions of Crimson Tide busting dancing in their heads.  The working stiff commissioner has a clear head (despite 2 straight losses but a Holiday Bow birth to ease the pain) and will ensure that this year's bowl season, despite a very flawed CFP process, will again be great due to the Rocky Bowl.

2016 Rocky Bowl ends with Suspense and Fun

The 2016 Rocky Bowl ended in plenty of suspense as the final Leaderboard was not determined until the final on-side kick was recovered by Alabama.

The National Championship was actually a great game that once again proved why we do this thing called the Rocky Bowl. You may not have cared much for Alabama or Clemson from a college or region pride perspective, but I know for a fact that 90% of Rocky Bowlers had high confidence points on one of these 2 teams. Thus the Rocky Bowl suspense was real and added so much fun and anticipation all the way to the games end.

 If you didn't gather with fellow Rocky Bowlers to finish off one of the most memorable Rocky Bowl finishes in recent times, then shame on you. 

Rocky, Herbie Husker (2nd Place) and G-Chick (5th place with the chance to win it all if Clemson had come through for him) gather in front a fire pit with cigars and favorite spirit in hand to enjoy this one.  

Here is a look at the final standings and payout.  The money portion is still under final review until the Finance Commissioner is sober in the morning to give his final blessing.

Nearing the End, CFP National Championship will decide RBS Championship

Rockybowlers--

Just two weeks ago I was feeling on top of the world winning 5 of my first 6 picks and with my beloved Washington Huskies winning over Southern Miss. I thought I once again would be bragging about my prognosticating skills.  Then as normal my picks began to falter, who would guess Herbie Husker’s Cornhuskers would pull their big boy pants up and knock off one of the elite teams in the Pac 12, UCLA. 

Now In the past two days I have moved from shouting in the rafters “I am the Greatest” to just disgust with my poor picks.  Oklahoma should have kept heir Sooner Schooner at home, and my sure pick of Florida was nearly as bad as my Iowa pick over Stanford. 

And to think Oregon would lose a 31 point lead to the Boykin-Less Horned Frogs and WVU could pull off the upset of ASU in a virtual bowl home game in the desert.   Well, you see, more confirmation that the Rocky Bowl's mission statement is spot on.  Otherwise meaningless games turn into real drama for Bowlers with big RBS Points on these games.

And this year is true to history and the mission statement. Yes, the fictitious and otherwise meaningless NCAA CFP National Championship will decide the very REAL Rocky Bowl Champion.

An Alabama win will crown David "Just Happy to be here" Cence the Champion.

A Clemson win will crown G "Chix Pixs" Chick the Champion.

And the money list will be shuffled as well based on the winner.

However, the Toilet seat award is in the books for Rachel "The Good Daughter" Tanay.  Congratulations to the Tanay's for winning both coveted Rocky Bowl Trophies this year.  I guess we will know where to find them next year.

Well, I must say a job well done.  Another Rockybowl year down and I am already preparing my strategy for next year. I know one thing for sure I will be watching the CFP National Championship as if it means something to my selection sheet and now I am shouting to the world,

“I am a Rocky Bowler and Damn Proud of it”

Bobbi Breeze Trophy Goes to "Tutu", Commissioner Review Opened

Bill "Tutu" Tanay has been awarded the Bobbi Breeze trophy after a Commissioner's review related to a violation of "Fair Play" was completed.

TMZ first reported that an unacceptable selection process was used by "Tutu".  It came to light when Tutu was bragging to one of the commissioner's at the trophy presentation about how he used a complex analysis of expert selections and point spread's to determine his winning team and Rocky Bowl confidence points.  This process seemed to violate the acceptable fair play guidelines for wild ass guess picking of teams and random confidence points used by Rocky Bowlers.

This could have disqualified Tutu; however, his wife Swishy later confirmed that "Dumb Luck" was more likely to be the reason for his success.  You see, it appears that Tutu actually intended to pick UCLA for 28 points instead of Nebraska.  This mistake enabled him to have a nice comfortable lead heading into the last day of Bowls at the half way mark,   Once hearing this news,  the investigation was closed and Tutu was cleared of any charges related to Rocky Bowl "Fair play" code of conduct violations and conduct unbecoming of a Rocky Bowler.

Tutu has a new love of his life.  Sorry Swishy!

So congratulations Bill "Tutu" Tanay for a nice aggressive victory in the Bobbi Breeze half way championship.  He plans to keep this trophy close to him 24x7 as he clearly has found a new love. Sorry "Swishy".

Tutu was awarded the trophy and $50 at an impromptu ceremony at the Spot Tavern in Kent, WA.  This site was reviewed for possible selection of next years Rocky Bowl Party.

Kevin "I didn't get my selection sheet filled out on time" Johnson joined in the celebration and trophy presentation by Commissioner TopCoug.

Don't forget to send in your pictures and stories of you and fellow Rocky Bowler's enjoying the games and/or sporting your vintage Rocky Bowl T-shirts.

Let the Rocky Bowl Parties begin ...

Well, Christmas is behind us and the New Year is coming fast.  As the long time Rocky Bowlers know, this is the time for Rocky Bowl Parties.  However, we are not planning a formal party this year.  We have been receiving a lot of backlash for this decision and some great suggestions for future years.   So, let us know how you feel and what you are thinking.

However, the party fun MUST continue.  Please gather with friends and fellow Rocky Bowlers and send us your pictures and stories of your festivities to rockybowl@live.com.

And the games begin ...

Oh baby what a first day of games.  If you needed any more convincing that the Rocky Bowl Special (RBS) is worth entering, the first day of 6 excellent games should have sealed the deal.  

Starting with the first RBS upset of the day, North Carolina A&T takes down Alcorn State. Is Alcorn a state you ask? Rocky says, "Sure it is.  It says it on the Master sheet". 

The Pac-12 gets off to a great start with RBS Favorites Arizona and Utah holding on to win the Gildan New Mexico Bowl and the Las Vegas Bowl respectively. 

Appalachian State was an RBS favorite too ???  Yes, they come from behind to beat Ohio.

And then 2 minor RBS upsets San Jose State taking down Georgia State in the Auto Nation Cure Bowl and Louisiana Tech defeats Arkansas State in R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

And not to leave out the New York Jets taking down the Dallas Cowboys on a last second field goal in the Jerry Bowl. Oh wait, I don't see that one on the Master sheet.  #confusion Rocky !?!?!?!?

So, what is an RBS Upset?  It is when a team wins with less Total Rocky Bowl Confidence Points than the their opponent.  You'll see the total for each team on the top of the Master sheet.  Take look, it won't bite!

OK, now that the Rocky Bowl Commissioner's (well really only one of them) spent the whole day decoding the various selection sheet entries and copying them (for the most part) into the Master Sheet.  We really gotta get better on the instructions or we need to recruit Rocky Bowlers that can read.  But anyway, they are done now.  

The first Top 10 Scoreboard is posted on this page (Did you see it?).  Stay tuned for Bobbi Breeze Points Possible and Overall Points Possible Leader Boards in the future. You should know where to find them.

So, now your job begins.  You need to review your Master Sheet Entry and submit any challenges to the commissioners at rockybowl@live.com by end of day, Wednesday Dec 23rd.
